This area of employment offers assistance to Campus Auxiliary Services departments who are looking to hire students for part-time job openings within their units, and to process the necessary paperwork to complete the hiring process, as well as process other student employment requests.
Extra Help employees are hired to complete temporary assignments. They are required by State Universities Civil Service System rules to take a 30 calendar break after working 900 hours. At the end of the 30-day period, they may begin another 900 hour assignment in another campus unit. Since these are temporary positions, there are no benefits associated with this form of employment.
Civil Service open range and clerical, technical, service and professional classifications are governed by the State Universities Civil Service System. Individuals qualify for these positions based on examinations or a credentials assessment.
Academic professionals are members of the CAS staff whose positions meet specialized administrative, professional, or technical needs and are exempted from the State University Civil Service System. These positions require a minimum of a Bachelor's degree.
