CAS Academic Professional Hiring Process

  1. Hiring manager submits a New Hire Request Form, position advertisement and list of search committee members to CAS Human Resources.
  2. CAS Human Resources submits a Job Description Approval form in Hire Touch. HR Compensation reviews and approves that the job is an academic professional position.
  3. A Position Authorization form is submitted to the Vice Chancellor and Associate Vice Chancellor for approval of a new hire.
  4. CAS Human Resources completes the Position Notice for Academic Search and attaches supporting documentation in Hire Touch. Transaction is routed to Susan Kovacs and the Office of Access and Equity (OAE) for approval.
  5. Once approved by OAE, the job is posted on the UIC Job Board. CAS Human Resources works with Shaker Advertising to place external job postings. Hiring manager determines length of advertising.
  6. Applicants submit their credential information electronically in Hire Touch.
  7. Once the job posting is closed, CAS Human Resources reviews the job applicant pool and identifies candidates meeting the minimum qualifications and updates Hire Touch.
  8. OAE reviews the list of applicants meeting minimum qualifications. This is the final OAE approval required.
  9. Search committee selects applicants to be interviewed. Unit Director submits Search Process Summary Internal Review form to CAS Human Resources.
  10. Interviews may begin once the pool of candidates to be interviewed is approved by the Vice Chancellor and Associate Vice Chancellor.
  11. Once the hiring manager has selected a candidate, complete the Authorization to Offer Employment for Academic Professional Position form and submit to CAS Human Resources.
  12. Once approved, the hiring manager prepares the offer letter and presents it to the selected candidate.
  13. Signed offer letter submitted to CAS Human Resources. Once received, a CAS Human Resources staff member will contact the individual selected to begin the NESSIE New Hire process.
  14. The candidate completes the online portion of the hiring process and schedules a benefits orientation session.
  15. CAS Human Resources works closely with the selected candidate throughout the onboarding process to insure their appointment becomes active in Banner in a timely manner.
